The 3rd Latin American Colloquium on Political Ecology was held from September 22 to 24, 2025, at the Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar, Ecuador Campus, in a hybrid format and open to the public.

Over the course of three days, students and alumni of the Master’s Program in Political Ecology and Alternatives to Development shared research, reflections, and situated experiences regarding the current challenges facing the region. The event brought together speakers from Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Uruguay, fostering a Latin American space for dialogue, critical thinking, and collective action.

The colloquium addressed some of the main debates in contemporary Latin American Political Ecology: socio-environmental conflicts, strategies against dispossession, territorial disputes, green colonialism, illegal and criminal economies, transitions, the relationships between gender, emotions, and political ecology, ontological and cultural disputes, and debates surrounding technology.

Unlike previous meetings, this third edition expanded the space for exchange between academic research, territorial experiences, and collective processes, more strongly incorporating questions about resistance, alternatives, and forms of re-existence emerging from below in the face of the multiple forms of dispossession in Latin America.

The Third Colloquium also served as a meeting point to strengthen regional ties among researchers, activists, students, and alumni, and to continue building a Latin American community of Political Ecology committed to the defense of territories, the commons, life, and the construction of possible futures.
