Based on the description of three agroecological experiences, this thesis analyzes how agroecology can contribute to build alternative ways of life to capitalist modernity in rural communities in Cusco, Peru. The research results highlight the role of women, the strengthening of peasant communities and Andean identity in the construction of alternatives to conventional development. On the other hand, challenges are identified such as the weak political, territorial articulation and with other alternative social and economic movements, as well as the extension of ecological restoration at the agroecosystem level.
