Episode notes

Green Transitions Driven by the Global North: Who

Defines What a Green Transition Means? Where Are These Decisions Made, and Who Bears the Costs?
In this new episode of Reexistencias, Yeiner Taquinas, Cristina Becerra, and Verónica Llanes invite us to take a critical look at the so-called green transitions driven by the Global North and to ask ourselves what lies behind these new discourses on sustainability, energy, and the future.

What happens when the solutions to the environmental crisis reproduce the very same power dynamics that have produced inequalities and dispossession?

Drawing on concrete experiences in Ecuador and Colombia, this episode brings to light the tensions and asymmetries that underlie these transitions: new forms of exploitation, territories and communities once again bearing the costs, and voices from the Global South that continue to be sidelined in decisions about the planet’s future.

Rather than accepting the green transition as an inevitable path, this episode invites us to pause, listen, and ask ourselves: Who is defining it? For whom? And at what cost—and to whom? We invite

you to listen to this episode, reflect, and share.
