This research analyzes the role of the Sapara people of Ecuador’s own educational system as a strategy for strengthening cultural and territorial protection in the face of various external pressures. Based on a collaborative approach developed together with the Sapara organization and communities, the study examines how the transmission of knowledge, cultural identity, and the connection to the territory contribute to self-governance and the continuity of collective life. The results show that indigenous education is viewed as a fundamental tool for defending Sapara culture, territory, and ways of life.
