About their trajectory

Liza Gaitán is a sociologist and geographer from the National University of Colombia, with a master’s degree in Political Ecology and Alternatives to Development from the Simón Bolívar Andean University (Ecuador). She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Geography at the Júlio de Mesquita Filho State University of São Paulo (Brazil). Her research experience covers water governance, deforestation, and the socio-environmental and gender impacts of large-scale mining in indigenous territories. She is a member of the Cambium Organization (Bogotá), where she focuses her efforts on action research addressing the climate crisis through urban agroecology. Currently, she is researching the corporate food system in the meat industry and its socio-environmental consequences.
